Well, if it's nothing but the old Rebetiko you want, this isn't for you. Rebetiko didn't just stop with censorship or the rise of Laika. Instead, it spread out all over the world, and not just to emigrated Greeks. Also, it carried on developing, while staying true to its roots.

This is an amazing double album, and after driving with it playing in my car for several weeks, I can honestly say that there are hardly any tracks that are not impressive. Diamanda Galas is more than impressive, her voice is astounding. There's a lot of very good bouzouki playing too. The Rembetika Hipsters have a good track that has made me want their "Architects of Narghile" album soon. Excellent!
